Sun Microstems launched two press releases around the SUPERCOMM conference in Chicago this week. Taking advantage of their established reputation with the telcos, Sun is positioning its servers and Solaris 10 at the base of a Service Delivery Platform program, giving way to other vendors like Open Cloud and jNETx to build the higher-level software layers. This is consistent with the recent $4.1B acquisition of StorageTek tightening Sun's focus on hardware and OS.
