JSR 281: IMS Services API

Bob Bickel at JBoss pointed me to this new JSR proposal. It looks like a Java ME device API that will standardize the client side of mutimedia services.

Interestingly it does not cite relationship to JAIN.

Does anyone have thoughts on its significance and the relevance it has to JAIN SLEE or SIP Servlets?

Mobicents presentation at VON Fall 2005

Ranga, myself and a panel of Java VoIP experts will present at the Open Source VoIP Summit co-located by Pulver at VON Fall 2005 on September 19. Here is the abstract:

As VoIP applications are growing in number and complexity, the development community is naturally looking out for prevalent middleware standards to enable deployment of platform independent, interoperable services.
SLEE (Service Level Execution Environment, JSR 22) has been carefully crafted to fit at the heart of Next Generation Service Delivery Platforms (SDP) and IP Multimedia Sub-systems (IMS). This presentation will introduce the audience to SLEE and the first certified open source implementation - Mobicents. It will also study an end-to-end example to illustrate:
- Composing VoIP application from SLEE Service Building Blocks (SBB).
- Guidelines for exposing management information via JMX
- Best practices for integration with SOA via Web Services interface
- Best practices for native Java integration with J2EE

For the folks that could not attend the presentation at Java One, I am posting a PDF document and two pictures taken by Michael Maretzke.

Another book on Asterisk

I noticed Ted's blog on his new book - "Switch to VoIP". Following the Amazon link I noticed that there already are several more books on Asterisk. Last year there were none.
